I was informed you where the most beautiful woman ever to visit Casablanca... That was a gross understatement.
And I am not home to bring flowers and have Sunday lunch with mine. We'll have a Facetime conversation and talk about how the weekend was instead...
My mom is a strong person but not strong headed. She's caring but not overprotective. And she can handle dad like no other.
I have the same character than my mom. Only in recent years this has become clear to me. We often look at each other and go; "my God, we're so much the same". Not in looks, but rather in character. I am proud of that.
She turns 80 next month.
She lived through a world war, went dancing at balls with live orchestras in the fifties and met my dad. She started working very young and lived very happily in a small apartment till she decided it was time for a kid after almost 13 years of marriage and travel.
My mom is very active and hasn't much changed over the years. She still looks 20 years younger than she really is and her smile makes other people smile as well.
I am very fortunate to be her son and still have her, although she's a continent away.
On this day I can't do otherwise than think of those mothers who raise their kids mainly by themselves. I have the privilege to know two of them rather well. They are very strong women and they will always have my highest respect.
This one's for you and my mom ladies, have a wonderful Mother's Day !
